Shady Hassan is a driven economist specializing in the critical analysis of International Financial Institution (IFI) policies, with a deep focus on the MENA region. His work dissects the complex interplay between climate finance, debt sustainability, and gender equity.
His research is built on a foundation of academic excellence from the Faculty of Economics and Management at Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany, where he received both his Bachelor's in Economics and Management and his Master's in International Economics and Finance. His graduate work was distinguished with the faculty's Best in Program Award, underscoring his outstanding academic achievements.
As the founder and research lead of the IFI Economics research project, he is dedicated to translating rigorous analysis into accessible, impactful knowledge products — informing public discourse and advocating for equitable development policies.
